Opening and operation of new routes
According to EFE, a new direct maritime trade route between China and Mexico was officially opened on July 20, which leaves the port of Dalian in northeastern China and shortened the sailing time by more than 10 days, greatly improving the trade efficiency between the two countries.
Following the departure of the merchant ship "East Chinatown", the route was officially launched on 19 December, with a total journey of 22 days, reducing the duration of the journey by more than 10 days compared to previously used routes. The new route is operated by China Ocean Shipping Group Limited (COSCO), which plans to invest eight container ships of 6,000 to 8,000 standard boxes, taking a weekly operating mode, to ports such as Ensenada, Manzanillo and Las Rojas, on the Pacific coast of Mexico.
Improving transport efficiency and economic benefits
Li Xiaobo, general manager of Dalian Container Terminal Co., Ltd., said that a wide variety of goods are transported through this new route, including food, chemicals, mineral products, automotive parts and mechanical equipment, etc. The opening of the new route not only shortened the transport time, but also improved the flow efficiency of goods, bringing significant economic benefits to the trade exchanges between the two countries.
The new route can not only reduce transportation costs, but also reduce the time the goods are travelling, making it faster to enter the market. This is especially important for those time-sensitive goods, such as fresh agricultural products and emergency industrial raw materials. In addition, the new route also helps ease congestion on traditional routes and improve the overall transport network efficiency.
Positive Impact on Trade
The opening of the new route will undoubtedly have a positive impact on China-Mexico’s bilateral trade. Mexico is one of China’s major trading partners in Latin America and China is one of Mexico’s major import sources. The trade relationship between the two countries is close and developing. The new route not only shortened transport time, but also enhanced logistics connections between the two countries, helping to further deepen trade cooperation between the two countries.
In the current context of increasing global supply chain uncertainty, the opening of the new route provides a more stable and efficient trade channel. This is great news for Chinese companies who want to expand exports to Mexico. Through this new route, Chinese goods can enter the Mexican market faster, meet local growing demand, and also provide faster import routes for Mexican companies.
Expanding the maritime market and enhancing service capabilities
As the operator of this new route, China Ocean Shipping Group Limited demonstrates its strong capability and influence in the global maritime market. COSCO’s eight large container cargo ships operate regularly per week, ensuring the efficient operation and reliable service of the route. This not only improves the company’s competitiveness in the international shipping market, but also provides reliable logistics security for companies in both countries.
With the opening of the new route, COSCO will further expand its business map in the Latin American market, providing more support and convenience for bilateral trade between China and Mexico. At the same time, by optimizing the route layout and improving service capabilities, COSCO will provide customers with better quality maritime services and further consolidate its leading position in the global shipping market.
In short, the opening of China-Mexico-New Sea trade routes not only shortened transport time, improved logistics efficiency, but also brought new growth points for bilateral trade between the two countries. In the future, with the continuous development and improvement of the route, China-Mexico and the two countries will develop in-depth cooperation in broader fields to jointly promote the comprehensive development of bilateral relations.
